A member or member organization of a national securities exchange or association registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission and a bank or trust company insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation may become a participating firm or a participating custodian under section 4918 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954.
Held, a `firm' or `custodian' as defined in sections 4918(c) and (f) of the Code will qualify as a participating firm or participating custodian if it notifies the Commissioner of Internal Revenue, Washington, D.C. 20224, Attention: CP:A, that it agrees to comply and is complying with the provisions of Chapter 41 of the Internal Revenue Code (dealing with the Interest Equalization Tax) and with the documentation, recordkeeping, reporting, and audit requirements prescribed by the Secretary or his delegate to implement such provisions.
