For the purposes of the interest equalization tax section 4920(a)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954 defines the term "State" as including the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the possessions of the United States. Accordingly, a corporation organized or incorporated in the Virgin Islands of the United States is considered organized or incorporated in a State of the United States.
