The use of a product, consisting of Locust Bean Gum, Carragheen, Alginate, Bentonite, Agar Agar, and Diatomaceous Earth, within the general limitations of section 240.524 of the Wine Regulations, to clarify wine, in amounts not exceeding two pounds per 1,000 gallons of wine, is considered as being consistent with good commercial practice. Winemakers desiring to use this product in the clarification of wine may obtain the approval of the Assistant Regional Commissioner, Alcohol and Tobacco Tax, by filing a notice pursuant to section 240.1052 of the regulations.
