The Office of the Treasurer of the United States has established facilities at the Treasury Building in Washington, D.C. to conduct transactions in public debt securities in substantially the same manner as is done by the fiscal agency departments of Federal Reserve banks and branches. Accordingly, the Office of the Treasurer of the United States will accept Treasury Bills, Notes and Certificates of Indebtedness of the tax anticipation series from taxpayers and issue receipts therefor to be used in payment of taxes. District Directors of Internal Revenue will accept these receipts in the same manner as receipts for securities issued by Federal Reserve banks or branches.
